Speaking

Speaking is my passion!

It is an absolute joy to share all that God is teaching me through His Word. My heart is not only to encourage, but to help the listener understand God’s truth and how to apply that truth to their everyday lives no matter what they are facing. Here you can view a few of my favorite messages with a full written description of the topic being taught.

Battle Ready: Resist Temptation and Rise Above the Ruin

Change happens when we refuse to escape the hurt and choose to embrace the hard. In this message, I confront the negative habits we choose to escape hurt and heartache from our past or present circumstances. With God’s help, we can rise above the ruin and resist the temptation that threatens to bring us back down. Through the account of Jesus being tempted in the wilderness found in Matthew 4, I expand on ways He resisted the enemies tactics and share 4 key principles to help us do the same.

Promise of Deliverance: Holding on to Hope in the Hard Times

Diving into the account of Moses liberating the Israelites from Pharaoh in Egypt, I share how God’s promise of deliverance is fulfilled. God can do the same for us in our own bondages; He is mighty to save. Reading through Exodus 5, 6 and 12, I point out key characteristics of God’s nature, how the Israelites responded to God, and how we can learn from both. I also explore freedom barriers along the way and how God’s plan of rescue did not falter, but rather revealed His power and glory to both the Israelites and the Egyptians.

New Year, New Thoughts: How We Think Determines Our Direction

We can place a lot of pressure on ourselves at the beginning of each new year (or anytime of the year for that matter). Oftentimes, we craft a list of what we need to change, trying so hard to behave differently. The tendency is to give up if we fail or fall behind which can be devastating to our souls. What if instead of living for approval, we lived from approval? What if we captured any thought from our past (or present) that says we’re not good enough and can never change, and replaced it with God’s truth? In this message, I navigate how to toss out toxic thoughts and share scripture of who God says we are in Christ. Keeping these truths in our thoughts can change our course for the good.

Hide or Seek: Going to God When We’ve Gone Astray

God will never let go of us even when we let go of Him. In Genesis, we read of Adam and Eve in the garden eating the forbidden fruit, feeling shame, and hiding from God. Choosing their own way, they gave into their desire over God’s. But God in His goodness was faithful to forgive their sin. He brought them out of hiding by covering their shame, making them right in their relationship. In this message, I share how we no longer need to hide when we sin because shame has been nailed to the cross. We can seek God in our confession and receive His grace and forgiveness immediately.

The Parable of the Sower: Cultivating the Soil of Our Hearts

In this 2-part message, I open with a reading from Mark 4, The Parable of the Sower, and discuss each of the 4 different soils. I share how the soil represents the condition of our hearts and how the seed being sowed represents God’s word. How we receive truth of the scriptures is determined by our heart’s condition. Together, we are given the opportunity to look within and discover which of the 4 different types of soils best represent how we’ve been receiving God’s word. Throughout, I intimately weave my own story into the discussion, showing how our “heart condition” can change from one soil to the other. In the second half, I share practices and principalities for cultivating “good soil.”
